This hen, compared with the previous one in the
gallery, is changing its hormonal levels to a neutral male. Tom tells me
that she still lays viable eggs. A very secret trick to keeping hens like
this in hormonal balance and laying is to give them minute doses of estrogen
that women (human) use in menopause. The results have been very satisfactory,
I have been told.
